Love Tank in Pacific Place – Jakarta, Indonesia

Every time I visit Jakarta, I love to stop by the mall to shop.

The mall is like a theme park, with full entertainment. Everything from a luxury restaurant to a movie theater and a kid’s playground.

The mall even comes up with creative themes for each month.

The Pacific Place is always dedicated to showcasing Indonesian artists and supporting their artwork by having their installations around the mall.

In conjunction with Bazaar Art Jakarta 2015, Mall Art featured art installations by Love Tank or The Temple by S. Teddy Darmawan. It stood high and tall at the main atrium and became the highlight of the art month.

The installation was built by stacking seven military tanks and covering them in pink lotus-shaped camouflage.

The installation used Multiplex, Resin, Metal Structure Approx. 200 x 500 x 650 cm Tanks. His work also sent out a message of love and peace through East meets West symbolism.

Artist, S. Teddy Darmawan, was born in Padang in 1970 and graduated from the Indonesia Institute of Arts, Fine Arts Department, Yogyakarta. He was an Artist in Residence in Aachen, Germany and was selected for the best five of Phillip Morris Awards 2001 (Indonesia).

I highly recommend checking out Pacific Place. It’s really amazing.
