Jakarta to Surabaya

Thank you to Natasha for arranging an event for me and helping me all the way to Surabaya.

I was excited to explore to the second largest city in Indonesia.

This time we were able to team up with Budi and Indra for an event. Before the flight, we tried a local donut brand called J.co.

I saw the Singapore Merlion in Surabaya. Its name combines “mer”, meaning the sea, and “lion.” The fish body represents Singapore’s origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek.

Indonesia reminded me of my childhood in Taiwan. All the kids were waiting for snacks and food from local vendors, most of them using bicycles as a mobile store.

We also stopped by the local mall.

Inside, I saw a homemade potato donut spot which I definitely wanted to try.

The people were super friendly and were nice enough to take a photo with me.

My donut order was freshly, very soft and yummy.

We also stopped to get some iced mochi.

The plan for next time is to try out more food spots. Can’t wait!
